Grant Requests

The Foundation received acceptable requests totaling $6,216,516.  The Board of Directors approved grants in the amount of $4,151,500.  This means that for every $2.00 requested nearly $1.50 was granted.  The total approved represents an increase of $746,500 from the $3,405,000 awarded in 2006. 

The Foundation received 67 eligible requests and funded 51: some in full, many partially.  The dollar amounts ranged from $2,000 to $500,000.

New Grant Recipients

Nine organizations received first time grants in 2007 totaling $741,500.

Geographic Distribution

The Foundation granted 77% of its funding to organizations that directly benefit the Newport County, Rhode Island community. 

There were three grants totaling $950,000 awarded to organizations outside of Rhode Island.
